Name: brittany nicole morgan[/li][li] ginny cook – mother – doctor – fate
Age: nineteen (19)
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: straight
Social Standing: college student - sophomore
Physical Appearance:
Brit’s a gorgeous girl, no one can deny that. She may not be perfect, the tallest, or the slimmest, but she has a certain innocence to her that makes her attractive.
Her eyes. They're simple, a dark muddy brown, but there's just something about them that draw you in. Brit's never really been a heart-on-her-sleeves kind of girl, but one look in her eyes and you will know exactly how she's feeling. They're pretty much the window to her soul. Her dark eyes also have a bit of mystery to him, like you don't quite know what's going on behind them in her mind. They're deep, and will often leave you with more questions than answers. She has a gaze that can set your soul on fire, or send your heart racing. She also tends to wear very little make-up on her face, mostly because she doesn’t need it. Often times she’ll wear something that brings her eyes out more, so that it’s the first place anyone looks.
Her hair. Not much to say, really, but they do say that the hair makes the man… or in this case the woman. Her hair is debatable. Some people would probably tell you that her hair is blonde. Brit, on the other hand, will tell you that it is light brown. Now matter what you say, that’s her story, and she’s sticking to it. Her hair style, on the other hand, is completely unpredictable. Sometimes she wears it long, sometimes she wears it short. Either way it’s always layered. Since her hair is close to being pretty thick, she likes to keep it as thin as she possibly can. Most of the time you’ll see this girl with her hair down, but you’ll almost as often see it pulled back into a messy bun or pony tail. She’s not the kind of girl that spends hours in front of a mirror getting her hair to look just right. If what she wants to do doesn’t work, she simply throws it up and goes.
Her body. There’s only one word for Brit’s body type: athletic. Being as active as she is, it’s no wonder that most of her body is muscle. It’s a good thing, too, because it’s the only thing that helps her hold her own in anything really. Brit comes to a standing of about 5’3”, and an average 125 pounds. Her strength happens to be the only thing that keeps her from being taken advantage of. She also has the whole “California girl” thing going on. Her skin always has a glow to it that looks like she’s just come back from the beach. Of course, this might also have something to do with the fact that she’s lived on the Carolina shore her whole life. Still, without the sun her skin is fairly dark, being far from fair and pale.
Her style. Brit’s a very laid back girl, and that shows in the way that she dresses. Brit’s not above going for a walk in gray sweat pants and her brother’s t-shirt. She’s never been into name brands, either. As long as the clothes she wears fit to her liking, Brit’s happy. She loves faded jeans, and will only wear stuff that rest on her hips or lower. With her height, it’s not too hard to find jeans that fit. She also loves vintage t-shirts, and she’s probably Wal-mart’s best customer. Either way she looks for comfort in her clothes; shoes too. Shoes are probably the one thing that Brit loves. She loves everything from sneakers to flip flops to high heels, though most of the time she’d kill herself with the heels. Her closets stuffed full of shoes, but she usually has 3 or 4 pair that she wears all the time.
Piercings, tattoos, etc. Brit’s never been into piercings. She’s never had a desire to have a body full of medal, and she’s never really wanted her body covered in ink either. When she was 2 her mother pierced her ears, and those are the only piercings that she had for the longest time. Then, however, she went on a trip to California with her best friend, and came back with two surprises for her mother. One was a ring in her naval; the other was a small "23" tattoo on her back. Besides these, though, she has no others, and has no desire for more.
Personality:
There is one word on this earth that sums up Brit, and that’s complicated. It’s taken many people years to figure this girl out, and a lot of them gave up trying years ago. She’s not perfect, and I’d never go as far as to say so. She has her flaws, like others, and they are numerous. She has a good heart, though, and that’s all that really counts.
Sweet. Brit, above everything else, is sweet. She’s always kind to those around her, and lives off “treat others as you wish to be treated.” She’ll do anything for anyone, and she’s honest to the bone. Brit isn’t afraid to give you the truth straight out. She doesn’t always sugar coat the truth, but she at least tries to give it to you easily. She’s also completely trustworthy. Tell Brit something, and she’ll take it to her grave. Of course, she’s not perfect, and so she’s slipped up a few times. But she’d never tell someone’s secret on purpose, and she’d never do it to hurt someone either. Brit has a certain innocence to her. Though she may not be completely innocent, she gives off that impression when you meet her.
Open minded. Brit is possibly the most open minded person you will ever meet. She doesn’t judge people before she meets them, and she tries not to stereotype anyone. Brit often sees things, and people, differently than anyone else. She tends to view things as “half full.” She tries to find the good in almost every situation, and in every person. Some find it annoying; some love her as a friend because of it. Either way, that’s how she looks at things, and nothing anyone can say can tell her differently. She’s also a fairly down-to-earth kind of person; she does, however, have a ton of dreams and ideas about how things should be. Brit is what you’d call a “hopeless romantic.” She loves the idea of perfect love, but isn’t so naïve as to believe that it’ll happen to her. Even with her hopes and dreams, though, she has a very brilliant mind and is very much an honor student.
Emotional. Brit is extremely emotional. She isn’t great at controlling how she feels. If Brit’s upset it’s easy to tell, and she sucks when it comes to hiding it. When things get tough, Brit is almost always guaranteed to break down. She has dealt with a lot, though, and sometimes she does have the ability to remain strong for those around her. She also has a really bad temper. She doesn’t loose control easily, but when she does it’s a pretty scary sight, and definitely not something you’d picture coming from a tiny person. She’s very protective over her family, and she’ll do anything to defend those that she loves, even if they don’t know it. Brit is also one that routes for the underdog in any situation. She helps out when she can, but she’s also not the type that sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong.
Outgoing. Brit is definitely an outgoing girl. She’s hardly ever shy around her peers, and it goes without saying that she’s completely insane sometimes. She’s a crazy girl, and not afraid to let her hair down in the rain. She’s a very friendly person, and the first one that will walk up to a new student. She’s also extremely random. She tends to blurt things out that have absolutely no relation to the present topic, but those close to her are used to it. Brit’s also a little bit of a party girl. She’s not the type to go out every night and get plastered, but she does like to go out and hang with the girls. She also doesn’t care what people think of her. She knows that she’s different than expected, and she really doesn’t fit in with just one type of person. Her friends come from many cliques, and she’s honestly the most comfortable around guys. She doesn’t like dealing with drama, but most of the time she’s the one you turn to for advice. Still, guys create more drama, and she’s always willing to lend her feminine expertise when it’s needed.
Lover. Brit is the most loving girl you could probably ever come across. She’s an amazing lover, and she’s loyal to the very end. Her romantic ways probably help her in this. She’s honest, and that means that she won’t date someone unless she too has feelings for them. She’s not the kind of girl that needs a boyfriend to make her happy, and her number of relationships isn’t too high. She’d never get involved in a friends-with-benefits kind of relationship, and she’d never jump into bed with a guy she barely knew. Brit’s a pretty deep person, and in so being she has morals that most people seem to forget. She doesn’t give herself away to just anyone, and she’ll walk out of a relationship if she feels pressured. Most guys can’t handle her ways, but that suits her find. She can handle it, and knows that if they don’t like the way she runs things, that sooner or later a guy will come along that does.
Stubborn. This is the number one thing you’ll probably hear from anyone who knows Brit. She’s not the kind of person that thinks she’s right about everything, but once she has her mind set on something it’s hard to change. She doesn’t like to hear that she’s wrong, and if she’s sure that she isn’t, she won’t back down for anything. She’s not afraid to speak her mind on something, and she’ll debate until the cows come home if she’s right. She can be pretty persuasive, but get her into an argument with someone just as stubborn as she is and things get interesting. Still, Brit knows how to back down when she’s proven wrong. Mostly, though, it’s important to know that once Brit has something set in her mind, you’re better off to just let her go, and not try to change it.
Temperamental. Few people ever see it, but Brit can be a bit of a pregnant dog if she really wants to be. Her tolerance for people has decreased with her age, and she often loses her patience with people quite easily. If she’s in a terrible mood or just plain irritated, she won’t hesitate when it comes to lashing out at people. She has a smart mouth, and she tends to use it when the time arises. Brit doesn’t bother with people she knows that she can’t stand, and she can come off as a little stand offish sometimes. She has a good heart, though, and a great mind. Few people ever see it until she lets them in, but when she does she lets you see a girl whose completely amazing.
History:
Brit was born on May 11 in Fate, North Carolina. For the first year of her life, everything was normal, but then her mother and her father started arguing about anything and everything. Her father stole hundreds of dollars from her mother to support his alcohol problem, and after her mother took a severe beating to his truck, he left, and never looked back. Brit, her mom, and her older brother, Brian, lived with random family members after that. Going from uncles, to aunts, til they finally settled in with her grandparents. After that, life was normal. Her brother was her best friend, and life seemed completely great. Then, when Brit was 11, Brian died of cancer. He was 13 at the time.
A few years after that, she lost her aunt to the same disease. The Morgan household was once again turned upside down, but it didn't take them long to regain the foundation under their feet. Of course, like all things, this didn't last forever. When Brit turned 13, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, the same type of cancer that had affected her brother and her aunt. It was a tough year, but by the next summer, she had gone into remission and everything looked promising.
The summer Brit turned 14 changed her life forever. She was a strong, outgoing girl ready to continue on with her full life. However, when the summer came and her best friend didn't show up in the small Carolina town, Brit grew worried. Shortly afterwards, she learned that a close friend of hers, Jared Trent, had been killed in a car accident. Without a moments hesitation, she informed everyone that she was flying across the country with the boy's uncle, and that no one was going to stop her from doing so; no one dared to say no.
Things in Seattle were worse than she thought. Brit wasted no time at all in comforting her second family, and when she finally saw her best friend, he was confined to a hospital bed. She never left his side the whole time, and she didn't let him fall into a state of sadness or depression. She supported him in every way that she could think of, and because of it, they grew closer together. Brit will always tell you that there was something more that she wanted, but it was something that just wasn't in the stars, and she accepted it for what it was.
Once Kade had recovered from the accident, and the family seemed to be doing fine, Brit left the state and headed back to her small Carolina town. She was sad to leave Kade, but from that day on there wasn't a day that went by that they didn't talk. For a while it worked, but soon their friendship was hard to keep up with all the distance between them, and they soon lost touch with the other. Brit hardly seemed to notice the lost of her friend. She was heading into her prime in high school, and things seemed to be going great... for a while at least.
And then things just got worse. The school year that followed took a major toll on the girl, and it didn’t help when her father returned to Fate in an attempt to get back into her life. Brit wanted nothing to do with him, neither did Dean, and they both slammed the door in his face. It didn’t stop him, though. For a drunk he was quite persistent, and he didn’t give up easily. One evening he cornered Brit outside her home, trying to reason with her. When she pushed him away he flew completely out of control and struck her. He didn’t get more than one hit in, though, because Dean came out of the house and stopped it all. He was gone the next day, and Brit couldn’t have been happier. But then, a few months later, Brit lost the only man that, at that point, she truly loved: her grandfather. With him went every reason she had to live. Then, 3 months later, she also lost her grandmother.
After everything that Brit's been through, it's no wonder that she's a mess. No, mess doesn't even describe it. She lost her grandparents, and then she pushed her father away. That might explain why she had another relapse. This time, though, it was much worse than before. Brit once again failed to tell everyone what was wrong with her, and she soon was fighting for her life again. Since radiation treatment didn't work for her this time, they took to treating her with chemo, which didn't react well with her body. She was sick most of the time, but somehow, in the end, she pulled through.
Out of all the sadness, though, there came a silver lining. After years of heartache and disappointment, Brittany Morgan finally met a man that wasn’t afraid to admit how he felt. She had known Jeff Mathews her whole life, and had always liked the boy. When she relapsed, he was by her side everyday, and after everything she had been through, she just needed someone there to love her. Jeff did just that. He was the boy that held her hand that last year of high school, and it wasn’t long before Brit was head over heels for the boy she had liked for so long. He brought her old self out again, and for a while she forgot that she had ever lost anyone in her life. She could honestly say that she loved the boy, and when he was asked to serve his country in the military, she was sad to see him go. Before he left, though, he gave her his class ring, saying that he would come back to Fate and marry her.
Brit was heartsick without Jeff there, but she wrote to him as often as she could and soon started her first year of college in Fate. Things were good for her, and it had to be the happiest time of her life. Of course, everything for Brit always seems to go south, and this moment of happiness was no exception. About eight months after her love left her, two officers showed up at her front door to tell her that the man she loved was dead, killed in an ambush at one of the military bases. There are no words to describe the hurt and loss that she felt, and it didn’t take her long to sink back into her old ways.
Now Brit's floating somewhere between grounded and broken. She's not exactly the same person that she's always been, and anytime someone takes her on a trip down memory lane, she loses it completely. If people thought she was emotionally unstable before, they definitely think she is now. Still, somehow she keeps moving. Staying in Fate was never an option for her. As soon as the funeral was over she took off to Seattle where her cousin, Anna, lives. She knew that it was time for a change, and now Brit just wants to start a new chapter of her life.
