` New England, Daimler University
Home of some of the smartest teenagers in the world, full of pristine and posh universities such as Princeton, Harvard and Brown. The most intelligent, most wealthy, most beautiful people live here, proving their social status through their checkbook, and through their attitudes.
Welcome to Daimler University, the pride and joy of the tiny town of Connecticut, where the most intelligent teenagers find their way. A university that is based on social status, where the babies are born with gold streaming out of their eyelids, and a one hundred dollar bill is nothing but petty change. The students that attend this elite, Ivy League university are known for having superior attitudes the size of their wallets and checkbooks, looking on the common man like they would fifth. Still- Daimler is the home territory, the home school, the pride of the state. The college that brings in all the money, and all the reputation. The glitz and glam of the young aristocrat is blessed, at this four year university. They know that they are inferior to no one but themselves.
` Connecticut, Oakland University
Oakland University. The grit, the grime, the disgust of the community. Where the students of brilliant intelligence are sent, just with having a smaller check book. Where the middle class are sent to do their leanings, to sit and learn for what is really offered to them, not about the stock market, or investments, or anything of the sort. Where they rely more on themselves than they do each other. The school that is considered ‘the lowest of the low’. It seemed to be nothing more than god’s will that they have a bitter rivalry with Daimler University, and not just in one aspect. Grades, sports, money, attitudes. Everything is a feud of the most detrimental proportions between not only the students, but the teachers as well. Even when they aren’t on campus, or at football games, just walking around town, more than a few fights have insured. The students of Daimler’s posh attitudes, and the Oakie’s no joke way of approaching life clash in a fury so great, it could tear the town apart all together.
No one knew how the fire was started. The police had no leads, but the rumors spread just the same. Had it been the students of Oakland University that had set the Collier Dorms at Daimler on fire? No one knew- all the news told were stories of how things could have been changed. Had the flames been set awry on any other night, when the wind hadn’t been as strong, blowing north east, causing all the boy’s and girl’s dorms to be set aflame, burning to the ground. The real thing that had done the ancient school in, was when the white-hot fire reached the science building, spreading into the Chemistry lab- by that time, there was nothing the fire fighters could do to stop the destructive fire, but simple let it burn out.
The students of Daimler were caught in a situation, stranded, most miles from home with no where to go to school, and no where to live. Both school boards met, discussing a way to solve the problem. Despite their schools vastly different reputations, truth was that they were the only universities for hours, and most students were from out of state. There seemed to be only one logical solution- Daimler was far too big of a school to try and rebuild, and Oakland had always been severely under populated. Most citizens of Connecticut would rather go out of state, or drive five or six hours, just to spare themselves the reputation of being an Oakie. So, it was done.
The schools merged, the students of Daimler going to the Oakland campus, immediately dubbed “Tantes”, while the Oakland students were called an array of different names, the most primal being “Miner’s”, The Daimler’s name, Tantes, was much easier to understand. Short for Debutantes. The Oakland’s name on the other hand, was much more cryptic. Miners were the workers, they were the lowest of the low, and even though this was a huge insult to the students of the university, who had taken in the homeless socialites, they seemed to think of it was a status symbol more than anything, taking not much offence.
Some students tried to live in peace, while others just threw it into the wind, certain that Tantes and Miner’s would never get along, no matter how long ether of them lived. The Tantes still thought that the Miners had set their school on fire, where as the Miners thought the Tantes had done it themselves, getting drunk one night, and playing with their ‘Rich Daddy’s fireworks set”
Will they get along? Will the Rivalry continue? That- only you can decide.
